Have you ever thought about taking a temporary travel physical therapy contract, but been hesitant because you wondered why facilities use traveling Physical Therapists?
Well, some recent research by an industry leader has looked at the reasons hospitals and facilities use travelers. The reasons they gave for relying on travelers or temporary contract PTs were:
- 82% – To maintain services while they are looking for permanent therapists
- 47% - To fill in when they lose staff because of turnover or other reasons
- 13% – To cover for therapists on vacation
- 16% – To supplement their staff during times of peak need
- 3% - To test new service lines they are considering providing
